Our Vision

pro-gram for Appalachian youth and adults who have limited financial resources
and the potential to succeed in a non-traditional setting. We will achieve our
mission by creating
a nurturing school environment that

we seek to achieve human rights, equal opportunity, individual growth
and success, self-worth, and |

community service. We cher-ish our students, community and Appalachian
Heritage, and we strive to involve the whole family in the learning
experience.
We believe that all students

basic academic skills. Our students have either dropped out of school or are
at risk of dropping out and are referred to us by public school personnel,
social service agencies or their parents. They fell behind early in their

considered the class troublemakers. More than 75 percent of our students come
from families that live at or below the poverty levels.
Our students are not incapable of learning; rather, they have
generally not received adequate attention from public schools and/or their
parents. They come to David for a renewed opportunity to succeed. |
