Volunteering - Get Involved and Make a Difference!
What kind of volunteer positions are available?
The David School is a faith based, nonprofit, educational-community institution. Volunteer positions are as varied as the people who fill them, ranging from teaching and tutoring to administrative and maintenance. Just tell us what you are good at and we will find a spot for you.
What are the requirements?
We welcome anyone who is at least 21 years old and has a passion to help. Teachers are required to be degreed, experienced, or have specialized training.
What is provided for volunteers?
Housing: We have residential housing for communal living within walking distance of the school, with all utilities paid by the school. You will have your own room and will share the large common areas with the rest of your fellow volunteers.
Monthly Stipend: We provide a modest monthly stipend to help offset expenses.
Deferred Student Loans: You can defer your student loans while you are volunteering.
How long of a commitment do I have to make?
The duration of your stay impacts your housing and job choices. School grounds and maintenance positions are generally one to two weeks. Volunteers are provided meals and stay in the on-campus cabins, which are comfortable dorm style apartments.
Teachers are required to commit to at least one full semester, other support staff are asked to stay at least three months; all stay in the volunteer residence and receive a modest stipend. Longer commitments can result in salaried positions.
